🌈 PASTORAL CARE

Sacred Support for Every Journey of the Body, Mind, and Spirit

Universal Rainbow Faith

At Universal Rainbow Faith, no one walks through illness, fear, uncertainty, or transition alone.
We honor the Divine Light within every LGBTQIA+ soul — and we stand with you in every chapter of life, from healing to transformation, from medical care to sacred passage.

Pastoral Care is a foundational ministry of URF.
Here, you will find comfort, spiritual protection, healing prayer, sacred rites, and the loving presence of clergy trained to hold space with dignity, compassion, and affirmation.

Whether you are facing surgery, supporting a loved one in crisis, preparing for a possible transition, or simply needing prayer — we are here.

🌟 OUR PURPOSE

Pastoral Care offers:

  • Hospital visits & bedside ceremonies

  • Pre-surgery blessings

  • Sacred transition rites (URF’s version of “last rites”)

  • Prayer and identity affirmation

  • Anointing & healing rituals

  • Spiritual crisis support

  • Family and caregiver support

  • LGBTQIA+ affirming clergy presence

  • Ancestor invocation and spiritual protection

Every ritual is grounded in URF’s sacred belief:

🌈 Your life, your gender, and your identity are holy expressions of the Creator.
You are sacred — always.

🕯 HOSPITAL & BEDSIDE VISITS

A Sacred Holding of a Life

Our ministers provide gentle, affirming, spiritually rich support for:

  • Surgery preparation

  • Critical or unstable health situations

  • End-of-life moments

  • Recovery and healing

  • Family grief and anxiety

  • Trauma or medical emergencies

A typical pastoral visit may include:

  • Opening Invocation

  • Identity Affirmation

  • Prayer for Protection & Healing

  • Anointing Rite (optional)

  • Ancestor Invocation

  • Transition Blessing (when desired)

  • Closing Words

These ceremonies are written to be LGBTQIA+ affirming, trauma-informed, spiritually grounded, and emotionally safe.

If a loved one cannot speak, the blessing is still performed as a spiritual act of protection, dignity, and love.

🕯 SACRED TRANSITION RITE

(URF’s Sacred End-of-Life Ceremony)

This rite may be offered when:

  • A surgery or medical event carries high risk

  • A person is near transition

  • A family requests spiritual preparation

  • The individual wants spiritual peace, grounding, or closure

This rite includes:

  • Ancestral invocation

  • Protection prayer

  • Release of fear

  • Spoken blessing

  • Affirmation of identity

  • Declaration of safety and Divine holding

  • Comfort for family or loved ones present

We honor all transitions as sacred, peaceful, and held by Divine Light.

🌙 EMERGENCY SHORT BLESSING

Used when time is limited:

“You are sacred.
You are not alone.
Spirit surrounds you.
The ancestors protect you.
Peace to your heart.
Strength to your spirit.
Light to your path.
And so it is.”

🌈 ANCESTOR INVOCATION IN TIMES OF CRISIS

We call upon ancestors of:

  • LGBTQIA+ lineage

  • Indigenous, African, Latinx, Asian, Middle Eastern, Pacific Islander, and European lineages

  • Those who knew oppression, exile, illness, or violence

  • All queer and transgender saints

The invocation is used to bring:

  • Protection

  • Comfort

  • Strength

  • Spiritual guidance

  • Safety for the soul

This is one of URF’s most powerful and distinct practices.

✨ IDENTITY AFFIRMATION IN MEDICAL SETTINGS

Many LGBTQIA+ people experience fear or erasure in hospitals.
URF clergy affirm:

  • True name

  • True pronouns

  • Gender identity

  • Sacred autonomy

  • Divine dignity

We declare:

🌈 Your body is holy. Your identity is sacred. Your truth is Divine.

This affirmation is spoken aloud when desired and becomes part of the ritual.

🕊 PRAYER REQUESTS

If you or a loved one need prayer — for healing, strength, peace, protection, or transition — you may submit a request at:

👉 Prayer Support (existing tab on your website)

All requests are prayed on by clergy and incorporated into weekly services unless marked private.
