🌈 URF Sacred Teaching: The Six Foundational Genders & Divine Diversity

🧬 The Six Foundational Genders

In Universal Rainbow Faith, we honor the full spectrum of gender as sacred. We recognize these six foundational expressions as divine embodiments of spiritual truth and diversity:

1. Cisgender Woman
A person assigned female at birth who identifies as a woman.

2. Cisgender Man
A person assigned male at birth who identifies as a man.

3. Transgender Woman
A person assigned male at birth who identifies as a woman.

4. Transgender Man
A person assigned female at birth who identifies as a man.

5. Non-Binary / Genderqueer
A person whose gender identity exists outside the binary of male and female. This includes:

  • Genderfluid

  • Agender

  • Bigender

  • Demigender

  • Androgynous identities

6. Two-Spirit / Third-Gender / Culturally-Specific Genders
Recognized across global traditions and sacred history:

  • Two-Spirit (Native American nations)

  • Hijra (South Asia)

  • Muxe (Zapotec people of Mexico)

  • Fa'afafine (Samoa)

  • Androgynos, Saris, Tumtum, Ay’lonit (Talmudic Judaism)

We affirm that all gender identities—within and beyond these categories—are sacred.

🕎 Historical & Spiritual Origins: The Six Genders in Judaism

In classical Judaism, gender diversity was encoded into spiritual law:

The Six Talmudic Genders:

  1. Zachar – Male

  2. Nekeivah – Female

  3. Androgynos – A person with both male and female physical traits

  4. Tumtum – A person with indeterminate or concealed sex

  5. Ay’lonit – Assigned female at birth, does not develop female traits

  6. Saris – Assigned male at birth, does not develop male traits (includes eunuchs)

These gender categories were known, documented, and given space in sacred law, highlighting gender as a spiritual and biological spectrum.

🔥 Shekinah: The Divine Feminine Presence

Shekinah (שְׁכִינָה) is the radiant feminine presence of God in Judaism. She dwells among the people. She enters into exile with the oppressed. She returns with redemption.

In URF, Shekinah is:

  • The Guardian of the Queer Soul

  • The Compassionate Embrace of Divine Femininity

  • The Voice of Healing, Justice, and Restoration

We honor Shekinah as our sacred protector and radiant ally in spiritual liberation.
