💼 Sacred Care Collective: Faith-Based Healthcare for Transgender & LGBTQIA+ People

As states across the U.S. enact bans on gender-affirming care, and with the passage of H.R. 8281, the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” that strips Medicaid access and legal protections from transgender individuals, it is now urgent for our community to build our own systems of care.

At Universal Rainbow Faith (URF), we are launching the Sacred Care Collective: a visionary mutual aid and insurance cooperative model to provide gender-affirming, trauma-informed, and spiritually aligned healthcare for our members.

We envision a world where every transgender and LGBTQIA+ person — regardless of income, location, or legal barriers — has guaranteed access to affirming, comprehensive, and life-saving healthcare. Sacred Care Collective is a community-led movement to reclaim health sovereignty, protect our bodies and spirits, and ensure no one is denied care because of who they are.

🌟 Mission Statement

Sacred Care Collective exists to:

  • Create an LGBTQIA-owned healthcare solution that covers gender-affirming care, mental health services, HIV prevention and treatment, family planning, and spiritual wellness.

  • Offer an alternative to discriminatory public systems like Medicaid and private insurance plans that exclude trans people or criminalize providers.

  • Protect and serve LGBTQIA+ youth and families in states with bans on transgender healthcare, by offering remote access, out-of-state care, and relocation assistance.

  • Provide a faith- and human rights-based claim to religious exemption, ensuring continued access to gender-affirming care through sacred health cooperatives.

Note: Model 1 and 2 can launch immediately; Model 3 requires regulatory compliance and infrastructure planning.

We are building the first faith-based, transgender-affirming healthcare cooperative in the United States — and possibly the world.

We are not just responding to injustice.

To fully launch all three tiers of the Sacred Care Collective — including the URF Healthcare Cooperative — we are seeking $10 million in funding by the end of 2026.

This will allow us to:
